The Anchor News – 8th May 2026

Hello everyone,

My name is Miss Afzal, and I am the new Year 6 teacher. I have not long started at St. Clement’s, but I am thoroughly enjoying working with such a wonderful team of staff and children. I have been made to feel extremely welcome and have loved the opportunity to meet so many lovely parents.

Year 6 have been working incredibly hard this week as they prepare for their SATs next week. They have been focusing on exam-style questions to help build their confidence and readiness.

Alongside this, we have been enjoying our reading and writing topic, Hidden Figures. The children have shown a real interest in the story and have been very engaged in the learning.

We are also looking forward to celebrating Decades Day next Friday, where each year group will be exploring a different decade. Year 6 will be learning all about the 1970s, and I am very excited to see the creative costumes and explore the decade together.
